Spring/Summer Fashion Programs

Doll Clothes Design Classes Saturdays, June 9, 16, 23. 3-5pm. $120 Surprise your child or grandchild with a special gift as you design and create a unique outfit for an 18” American Girl or Barbie Doll. With designer Monique Fazzone participants learn basic machine and hand sewing skills to create an outfit that will be a real stopper! Classes open to adult/child teams when the child is 9 and above. All sewing levels welcome and an accompanying child is not necessary to participate.

Pattern Construction Classes Have a garment in your imagination? Seen a pattern you like but needs alteration? Even if you are an experienced seamstress this may be baffling. With Monique Fazzone (Nikki the Needle) learn to alter a purchased pattern or create one from a favorite garment. Make a mock-up and the finished pattern is yours to sew. This class is for Advanced Beginners to Experienced Sewers. Monique Fazzone is a 1989 graduate of the University of Connecticut program of Design and Resource Management, Where she concentrated on pattern making and design. She has worked in the fashion industry as a bathing suit designer and pattern maker and in the Bridal industry making custom wedding dresses. Monique has worked the past 15 years as a freelance costume technician , this includes ten years on staff at the Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theater. She has also worked in many area theaters including The Good Speed Opera House, Hartford Stage Company, and Long Wharf Theater Company.

Basic Fashion Illustration Photo Courtesy of Jess Smith Shore Publishing Newspapers			Want to express your smashing fashion ideas on paper? In these classes with Gloria NIlsson, learn fashion anatomy and gesture drawing. Repeat Fashion Illustration students refine their skills and elaborate on design details. Materials Not Included. All Ages Welcome. Artist Gloria Nilsson’s degree in Graphic Design from the Pratt Institute in New York has contributed to her solid knowledge of the essential elements of good design. In addition to providing instruction in pastels, calligraphy and fashion illustration at the Arts Center at Killingworth, Gloria is a member of the Madison Art Society, Clinton Art Society, Shoreline Arts Alliance and The Lyme Art Association.

Hi-Res Fashion Illustration Head, Hair, Hands & Feet			In illustrating the fashion figure, the total is equal to the sum of its parts. Participants strengthen their “total” figure by focusing intensely on a single anatomy feature. Use marker, watercolor and colored pencil. Basic Fashion Illustration experience required.
